Gardening for Butterflies
With the start of spring, I was inspired to do a little gardening. I planted 7 one gallon containers of Lantana two weeks ago in hopes that their fragrance will cause a abundant flutter-by of butterflies. I simply adore butterflies and I'm looking forward to the lazy hazy days of summer when I can sit idly on my porch with a cool glass of sweet lemonade, waiting for the gentle flap of their brilliant wings. If you're also fond of butterflies, try planting some Lantana. There are several varieties to choose from. The colors are quite lovely, ranging from red, orange and yellow to blue and white. It's a perennial, so it'll be around for a long time. I purchased my containers from Home Depot. If you're not in the southeastern part of the country, make sure that it will grow well in your zone before you forge ahead. Happy Butterfly watching! |
